This information is for tenants currently participating in Wood Buffalo Housing & Development Corporation's Rent Supplement and Direct Rent Supplement programs.
Rent is calculated on 30% of gross monthly income.
Tenants sign a lease agreement with a private landlord. Under the lease agreement they abide by the rules and regulations established by the landlord.
Any questions tenants have about rental payments, upkeep of the residential premises, emergencies after hours, problems with neighbours, moving out etc. should be directed your private landlord.
Annual Income Reviews
Tenants must complete an Annual Income Review form every year. The information is used to ensure the tenant still qualifies for the rent supplement and direct rent supplement programs. Forms are mailed to tenants approximately four months before their anniversary date.
Tenants must complete a Change of Information form to advise of changes that occur during the year such as income changes or a person moving in or out.
Tenants are responsible for obtaining insurance on their personal property as well as maintaining adequate general liability insurance to cover legal claims against the tenant or members of the tenant's household.
Tenants may need to leave Fort McMurray for extended periods of time. Wood Buffalo Housing & Development Corporation has an Extended Absence Policy. Tenants must contact Wood Buffalo Housing & Development Corporation to advise of their absence and to obtain permission.
