Ayabaskaw Home in Fort Chipewyan
This facility allows senior citizens to continue living in their community in a secure and peaceful atmosphere. The Home is owned by the Province and has been opened since 1982.
Features
- 10 units including kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and storage room
- Tenants are responsible for their own household needs
- Common area for tenants to watch television, play cards, visit and relax.
- Local FCSS Seniors Program offers tenants an opportunity to participate in bingo, crib tournaments, etc.
- Monthly foot clinics provided by Nuneeās Home Care Nurse
- Staff includes a groundskeeper, night security personnel, and contracted maintenance people.
Criteria:
- 65 years of age
- Residents of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo for 3 months
- Household income must be under $65,000

Ayabaskaw Lodge in Fort Chipewyan
Features
- 15 units consisting of bedroom and bathroom
- Three meals plus snacks provided each day
- Housekeeping and laundry services provided daily
- Note: currently there is no health care services available to support Lodge residents
Criteria:
An individual must be a resident of the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo for a minimum of 3 months and be 65 years of age or older.
Note: Two units are set aside for special need individuals under 65 years
